Drakes Passage #2, Happy New Year, Cape Horn, Ushuaia

We loaded ourselves up with meclizine for the second crossing of the Drakes Passage. It wasn’t as nasty as the way down. The winds were still blowing but the wave direction was the ride a little more um, ah, … bearable.

New Year’s Eve en route to Ushuaia was spent in Prego, the Italian restaurant.

It’s becoming our favorite. The spectacle and festivities that they prepared in the Crystal court competed with Times Square.

Room service woke us with breakfast in our cabin so we wouldn’t miss the “rock”.

We circled around and are now headed up the beagle channel to our overnight stop at Ushuaia.
Pictures really say it all.
The ship arrived in Ushuaia on New Year’s Day and we stayed overnight until this afternoon (Jan. 2) at 2pm.
We walked all around the town, felt good to be out, but it is still cold, and unfortunately rainy.
The weather in the south western coast of the Chilean fjords to our final port of Valparaiso is surprisingly different. It’s cold and raining pretty much constantly.
