Point Reyes

Our hiking options have been severely limited since the fire in October of 2017. Eighty-five percent of Sugarloaf, our favorite park, was burned. It’s going to be a very very long time before the green and beauty returns. If we want to hike locally, then it’s Jack London for us.

When we have a little more time, we travel (45 minutes) to Point Reyes National Seashore. It’s so fresh and green with beautiful ocean views. There are so many trails that we still haven’t discovered. Pt. Reyes was not effected by the fires. So it’s our go-to training ground lately as we need to be in top form for our road and hiking trip this summer in July/August.

We were struck by the new growth in this fallen tree on our hike today. Look how they survive. New growth heading straight up to the light.
