3rd Street Aleworks
We’ve been looking for places that have beer and eats much like two of our favorites from Ojai — OBC (Ojai Beverage Company) and the Whole Foods Bar Rincon in Oxnard. We love Lagunitas Tap Room in Petaluma but it’s pretty far to go on a regular basis. Russian River Brewing Company Tap Room on 4th Street serves some of our favorite beers–Pliny the Elder and Blind Pig but there’s always a long wait out on the sidewalk to eat/drink there, it’s super noisy and their food is awful. Well, that about says it all for us old folks. We would really like to go there one day to sit outside and have one of their flights but I guess that’s just not in the cards at that place.
Flights are fun but we’re starting to get picky about the beers we like and so we’d probably end up only liking a couple of the dozen pours anyway. At least that’s our current thinking on flights.
We fell upon this place one day when we were in the downtown area and figured we’d give it a go. We’re still searching for nachos that compete with Mount Jalapeño that we used to get at the Bar Rincon. It was not only massive but super good. The menu here at 3rd Street Aleworks is really excellent and their nachos are good but could be better if they used nacho chips that didn’t come out of a bag. But so far we’d rate these 2nd to Lagunitas in Petaluma.
Their flight was a lot of fun, and we were surprised how many we were OK with. We’ll definitely keep this place on our “eats” list.
