Stevie & Gerry’s Visit
Stevie & Gerry came to visit us. It started out so that Gerry and I could go to the 40/8 Flea Market on Sunday morning. We suggested they come early on Saturday so we could do wine tasting at our wine club at Chateau St. Jean. We closed on our new house on Thursday so their timing was perfect.
We went to Cafe Citti for lunch. Went over to the house so they could see it and Joe could get some feedback from Stevie on a couple of items. From there we went to Chateau St. Jean.
The big hit of their visit (aside from our new house ) was dinner at SEA Thai Bistro at their new location in Montgomery Village.
For starters we shared Homemade Potstickers: pork cheek, jicama, napa cabbage, ponzu sauce, yu toy and Portobello Mushroom Tempura with killer peanut sauce and cucumber relish. Below are each of our meals. We couldn’t stop talking about how excellent it was. Gerry’s comment was “it’s the best Thai food I’ve ever eaten.” We all tended to agree with her.
Sunday morning Gerry, Stevie and I were at the 40/8 right when it opened and it did not disappoint anyone. We all found great little treasures. Stevie’s find of the day was a silver plated creamer for 50¢. It polished up shiny and new. Gerry’s find of the day was probably the retro penguin ice bucket that she remembered having when she was a kid. But maybe it was the set of Restoration Hardware playing card plates, or maybe the little french egg cup, or maybe… For me it was probably the T-rex figure that was perfectly timed to give to Axl with his gift for his 10th birthday later that afternoon.
